The fisherman's wife

I spend a lot of time in Cape Town and along the coast and I really wanted to create an image showing the wild and beautiful coastline that we have.  I also wanted a story connecting people to the sea.  I had found an old fishing rowing boat (the Wafra) with a memorial to six fishermen that drowned, when it ran into difficulties in rough seas.  I did some research and came across some wonderful paintings by Winslow Homer of fishermens’ wives waiting for their husbands to return from the sea and I wanted to somehow illustrate the hard and dangerous lives of these fishermen and their families.
